Hiroshima- the A Dome
Of course, Hiroshima is famous, or infamous, for the atomic bomb which exploded there. These pictures are of the A-Dome, the building directly underneath where the bomb exploded. Because of the direction, the building was not completely destroyed, although everyone was instantly killed, and has been restored as a reminder of the bomb. The peace park where the Dome is located is a beautiful place now. I wasn't sure while we were there whether we were supposed to feel horror at the atrocity, or amazement at the strength of the human spirit to continue. As you stand on the t-intersection of the bridge that was the designated target, it is pretty overwhelming.
